The Club is committed to your wellbeing.

We aim to promote diversity, equity and inclusion in our club.

  • By diversity, we mean ensuring our club engages members from all races, ethnicities, gender identities, ages, religions, sexual orientations, socioeconomic statuses, and abilities.
  • By equity, we mean promoting the just treatment of all people by identifying barriers that certain people face and working to eliminate them to allow them to participate more fully.
  • By inclusion, we mean continually working to create a culture that is welcoming and accessible. These three issues all intersect and we all experience them differently.

Wellbeing and Inclusion

The Edinburgh University Hillwalking Club is committed to upholding the Edinburgh University Sports Union policies on looking out for the wellbeing of everyone in the club and ensuring a positive and inclusive club culture.

Your Welfare Officer, Hannah Collier, is the first point of contact for any wellbeing or inclusion issues and can be approached at any time or contacted via email at s2015809@ed.ac.uk for any issues or suggestions. Alternatively, you can approach any other member of the committee for help. Issues can be resolved within the club with the assistance of the committee, or the complaint can go directly to the Sports Union.

We have kit available to borrow for those receiving the Student Participation Grant (please clarify details with Silas). More information on how to apply for this grant can be found on https://www.ed.ac.uk/student-funding/hardship-funding/student-participation-grant.

The Hillwalking Club is also keen to host “sober socials” by hosting social events with activities that do not involve drinking alcohol. If anyone has any suggestions of “sober socials” they would like the club to hold, please do not hesitate to get in touch with any member of the committee, especially:
